“Uniting for our Youth to Provide Rewarding Soccer at All Ages and Skill Levels”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Why did Chisago Lakes and Forest Lake Soccer Associations join together to create Lakes United FC?

A: Forest Lake and Chisago Lakes UNITED to enhance the soccer experience within our region for youth from ages 4 through 19. The goal is to provide more like skilled teams which will help to better develop our players and offer a quality soccer program for ALL skill levels from beginners at local community recreational soccer to the highest skill levels of MYSA competitive soccer.

Q: How and where can I sign-up for the new club?

A: Right Here!  Register on-line at http://www.lakesunitedfc.org/page/show/26822-registration-information

Q: Who will be coaching the teams?

A: Both Forest Lake and Chisago Lakes have a great foundation of coaches that have been deeply involved with our teams.  These same coaches will be part of the Lakes United Coaching core.  After registration is complete and teams have been formed, coaches will be informally interviewed and assigned to teams based on availability, skills and certifications.  In some cases, kids will have the same coaches as last season and in other cases there will be great new coaches ready to bring them to the next level of soccer.

Q: Who and how many members will be on the LUFC Board of Directors?

A: A: LUFC Board consists of 10 members. President, Vice, Treasurer, Registrar, Secretary, Recreational coordinator, and four members at large. Board is equally shared with five from Chisago Lakes and five from Forest Lake.

Board member terms are staggered so that one half of positions come up for re-election every year year.

Q: What fields will my child be practicing and playing games?

A: This will vary depending on the age level, make up of the team and field scheduling. Teams that have Chisago Lakes and Forest Lake players will make every effort to alternate field locations back and forth between Chisago Lakes and Forest Lake to help keep family travel time to a minimum.

Q: What colors will be used for the Lakes United FC uniforms?

A: Lakes United FC Uniforms will be primarily a combination of Blue and Yellow with white and/or black accents.

Q: Will there be tryouts  at each age level?

A: There will be tryouts/evaluations at most levels in the first year.  The primary intent is to ensure there are like and similar skills for teams at the various competitive levels.  That said there are some exceptions.  The number of kids that register at a particular age group is a key variable in the process.  Also, U9/U10 may be evaluated, however, the intent is to keep them as close home, near Chisago Lakes or Forest Lake, as possible.

Q: What fundraisers will the new organization require/have?

A:  Lakes United FC will offer two, possibly three fundraising options this year. The first fundraiser of the year will be the annual spring flower sales that Forest Lake Soccer has been running successfully for the past few years. The second fundraiser will be the annual soccer tournament that has been held in Forest Lake on the first Saturday in June for the last several years. The tournament is a very successful and profitable fundraiser for the club. Lakes United FC is also considering a third fundraiser that will involve coupon sales.

Q: Will CLYSA Assets become assets of the new organization?

A: Chisago Lakes Youth Soccer Association Assets and Forest Lake Soccer Assets will be merged under Lakes United FC.

Q: Is Forest Lake or CLYSA in good financial health?

A: Yes.  Both Forest Lake Soccer and Chisago Lakes Youth Soccer are in good financial standing.  Together, the club will become even stronger which will help the club grow and offer more options to our kids.

Q: Will this affect Chisago LARA soccer, or Forest Lake “Little Kickers” program?

A: Lakes United FC intends to make a great recreational program.  Exact details will be rolled out over time.

Q: Will the cost of playing soccer change?

A:  In most cases the cost of playing will be less.  SEE Registration Fees.

Q: If I tried out and signed for another competitive team (Not FL or CLYSA), can I choose to play with this new combined team instead?
